TRAFFIC was backed up along a major city road with temporary lights in place.
Temporary traffic lights were set up outside Waitrose supermarket on London Road, Worcester this afternoon (Tuesday) after work was carried out on a standard traffic signal.
Vehicles were queuing in heavy traffic on London Road and the adjoining Whittington Road as a result.
Amidst the queues, there was a minor crash incident between a car and a coach in front of the temporary lights, meaning queuing vehicles had to be diverted around.
Vehicles from telecommunications group Telent and utility contractor Doocey Group were parked outside Waitrose as workers began removing the temporary lights shortly before 4pm after repairs had been completed.
One worker said the repair work was done because a traffic light had been "run over".
