COUNCILLORS have questioned why road signs are often left for months after roadworks have finished.
At an environment overview and scrutiny panel, members said signs and sandbags are sometimes left in hedges.
Representatives of Ringway, which carries out highways services in Worcestershire, said they would work to improve the situation.
They said workers, who already have handheld devices and take pictures at the start and end of the day, could also start logging inventory at the side of the road.
Councillors also asked about the issue of roads being closed days before works begin.
Ringway’s Nick Goddard said the company now has 10 pairs of smart road signs that automatically connect to one.network and satnavs when opened on site, giving people up-to-the-minute information on road closures.
