A MAN has been seriously hurt after a minibus overturned on a countryside road.

Firefights had to cut the driver from the minibus after the crash on the B4203 last night (October 10) near Upper Sapey.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of an road traffic collision on the B4203 near Upper Sapey, Worcester at around 7.15pm.

"An ambulance and the Air Ambulance Critical Care Car were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a minibus had been in a collision and ended up on its side.

"The driver, a man, was cut free from the vehicle with the assistance of fire colleagues before being treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

"He was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment."

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Two crews – one each from Bromyard and Tenbury Wells Fire Stations – were called at 7.20pm on October 10 to a road traffic collision involving a small vehicle in Upper Sapey.

"A van was on its side in the carriageway.

"A male casualty was extricated from the vehicle with the assistance of the fire service and handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police."

Fire crews, police officers and paramedics all attended the scene to help the man who was taken to hospital. 

The man's injuries are believed not to be life-threatening and the police made no arrests.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We were called to a collision on the B4203 in Upper Sapey at around 7.20pm on Thursday 10 October.

"One man was treated for injuries by ambulance crew and taken to hospital. No arrests have been made."
