41 Worcester primary school pupils have successfully completed a cycling safety programme.

The year five students from Perry Wood Primary and Nursery School, which is on St Albans Close, were all given the opportunity to take part in the Bikeability programme, after a fleet of bicycles was bought for the school.

The children were taught essential road safety skills, including how to interpret traffic signals and signs, how to navigate quiet junctions, and how to share the road with other vehicles.

One pupil said they enjoyed learning the manoeuvres and hand signals alongside their friends.

The school said the initiative was part of its 'Wide Horizons' programme, which aims to offer "enriching" experiences to students.

It is part of the school's commitment to providing a holistic education that helps students develop not only academically, but also in terms of life skills.

The school plans to extend its cycling provision later this year by hosting a 'learn to ride' programme and a 'balanceability' programme for its reception children.
