PLANS to extend a detached house have been turned down by the city council.

The owners of a house in St Dunstans Crescent wanted to build a two-storey side extension.

But planning officers said the extension would close the gap between the property and a neighbouring house, resulting in a “terracing effect”.

Planners also had concerns over the “poor design” of the proposals, which would “fail to compliment the character of the existing area” and “would result in a detrimental impact on the amenity of the neighbouring property”.
