I HAVE not been down Infirmary Walk and across the Arches since Redivision had an office and Elliott’s had a bicycle repair shop there, probably 50 years ago.

While in town I decided to revisit this part of the city.

Wow!

The Arches are now a hive of activity and positively buzzing with coffee shops, a burger restaurant, gourmet sandwich deli, dance studios, art outlets, galleries and workshops as well as an axe-wielding opportunity coupled with other businesses such as printing portfolios, etc.

The whole place was a pleasure to peruse and experience.

Walking back into town via the library, the outer perimeter of the library was becoming a colourful spectacle for a Pride event with stages and stalls being prepared for the afternoon activities.

Mid-morning as I re-entered the High Street the centre was absolutely packed with people and the energy was vibrant and happy with an audible and physical vitality emerging from Worcester Ukulele Club which had the town folk dancing, clapping and singing along as they shopped.

Just when I thought what a great place I approached the Guildhall whereupon I paused and wondered why so many small groups of people were chatting away.

Almost at once, three or four ladies walked up and around me beautifully singing the introduction lyrics of Simply the Best.

Many other songsters in a flash mob formation were also weaving with the shoppers while they grouped into a fully-formed, 100-plus singing choir belting out in harmony, full of enthusiasm that pulsated the place with joy, delight and pleasure.

Well done Got 2 Sing for your powerful performance and for giving your time free for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven and well done Worcester for a fantastic city centre experience.
