I WAS brought up in a working class family in the 1950s with manners, respect and your neighbours were always Mr and Mrs.

I left school aged 15 on a Friday, started work on the Monday and have always been employed, paying full national insurance and tax believing I would be able to live and get by in my pension years.

It was instilled in me being working class that you always voted Labour and I remember quite clearly the first time I voted at 21.

I felt so proud. I am now 75 and I have never missed a vote from that time, be it general election or local election always Labour.

I cannot tell you the disgust I feel about what Labour has done to us pensioners.

Last year I had a cosy, warm Christmas. Nothing much but I was OK.

Being a widow, you worry about your bills and the first thing Labour has done is taken away our winter security.

It is a pity they didn’t take away parts of their living, like bottles of expensive wine and fancy meals.

I will never forgive Labour for this. Whether the rest of my life will be short or long, I for the first time in my life will never vote for them again.

I know from speaking to friends, family, etc, that we all feel the same. I would like to see one of those MPs live on what we have to, feel cold in the winter and use a throw to keep warm.

Oh and by the way this letter has been written pen to paper and not email — so old-fashioned these days but it feels more personal.
