THE emergency services including rescue boat crews were called to Worcester Bridge last night following a 'concern for safety'.

The incident happened at the A44 Worcester Bridge at around 11.40pm last night with police, the ambulance and fire service all in attendance. 

A spokesperson for the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service service said a crew from Worcester Fire Station plus boat crews from Worcester and Evesham and the Urban Search and Rescue dog were called at 11.42pm.

He said the call was related to 'a concern for safety at the Worcester Bridge on the A44'.

"The man left the bridge and was in the care of police and ambulance. The incident was marked as pending closure at 12.36am," a spokesperson added.

We have approached West Mercia Police and the West Midlands Ambulance Service for comment. 

The incident follows an earlier search of the river by Worcester Bridge on Saturday at around 7pm.

Fire crews got the call to go to the Worcester Bridge at just before 7pm this evening (Saturday, September 28). 

Fire crews and police arrived at the bridge near New Road. Traffic was temporarily down to one lane on both sides of the bridge. The person originally thought to be in the river was later found to be safe and well.
