A MAN and a teenager have been arrested after zombie knives and drugs were found at an address in Warndon.

The two are believed to be some of the first to be arrested under new zombie knife legislation.

Police carried out a raid in Worcester this morning (October 3) and arrested a 26 year-old-man and a 17-year-old-boy after drugs and prohibited weapons were found.

Both the boy and the man were arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled Class A drugs with intent to supply and possessing or distributing prohibited weapons or ammunition.

During the raid, around 20 wraps believed to be cocaine or heroin were found alongside zombie knives and machetes.

DC Bethany Austin from West Mercia Police said “These two people are amongst the first people to be arrested since the legislation was brought in at the beginning of last week.

"We are proactively taking action to remove dangerous weapons like these from our communities, and reduce the tragic consequences from both knife crime and drug offences."

Following a change to the Criminal Justice Act 1988, since September 24 it is now illegal to be in possession of a ‘zombie style’ knife and machete.

It is also against the law to manufacture, import, sell or supply these items.

Both suspects remain in custody while enquires continue.
