A FILM primarily shot in Malvern which claims to be "the best British horror comedy since Shaun of the Dead" has premiered to a sold-out audience.

Bad Things, a new film about AI infecting young people and turning them into killing machines that target old people, had its first showing at the Worcester Film Festival. 

The movie, which has taken more than five years to produce was worked on by around 30 young people from across the county to give them a chance to work in the industry. 

The director hopes the film will be screened worldwide after its resounding success being one of the first events to sell out at this year's Worcester Film Festival.

Anthony Thornton-Hopwood, the film's director, writer and producer, said: "Bad Things is a horror comedy feature film about AI infecting young people, turning them into killing machines trying to rid the planet of old people. 

"Films take an obscene amount of money to produce and we had some funding appear and reappear so it's taken longer than most.

"Most of the film was shot in and around Malvern and we had a lot of young people on set who were first-time filmmakers who were mentored by industry professionals. 

"It is important to get young people involved, it is a difficult task to get any sort of career let alone one in the film industry so it was important to inspire them and give them a chance."

Around 30 young people from across Worcestershire were involved in making the film which took half a decade to make.

The Bad Things director said he is confident the will go worldwide likening it to Shaun of the Dead. 

Mr Thornton-Hopwood said: "The premier could not have gone any better. 

"The film sold out and I think the audience was blown away. 

"Everyone absolutely loved it and they were laughing throughout the room which was packed. 

"I think everyone will want to watch it because it's the best British horror comedy film since Shaun of the Dead."

The film is currently looking for a distribution agent.
