THE NEW manager of the Beauchamp Arms is looking to add a bit of music to his punters lives as he takes over the popular pub.

Music lover Rob Allen has placed live entertainment high on his list of priorities as he attempts to get business booming at the pub on Worcester Road.

Mr Allen, from Kidderminster, has been in the pub trade for the past three years, however, this is his first management job.

He said he jumped at the chance to take over the Beauchamp Arms when he was offered it by a brewery and can't wait to put his own stamp on things.

He said: "I'm feeling very positive and really excited to be taking over this pub, it's something I've been wanting to do for the past 12 months and I can't wait to sink my teeth into it.

"I have been in the role for a few weeks now and things have been going ok so far, the pub trade has been hard since Covid but I am hoping to make something really good of this."

Mr Allen wants to make music a feature of the Beauchamp Arms.

The first of the new live music performances will take place from 8pm this Saturday, October 5, where The Limit cover band will be playing a mixture of 70s and 80s hits.

Mr Allen added he wants to bring in acts that provide music from a range of different genres to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Other plans include hosting quiz nights, bingo and comedy acts.

And he is hoping to begin selling food such as jacket potatoes, curries and chilli con carne within the next two weeks.

He added: "I have been trying to learn as much about Malvern as I can so I can figure out what people want.

"I feel the regulars are taking to me quickly, from the first night I came in we were having a good laugh and hopefully they like what I'm planning.

"I really want to try and provide a nice friendly atmosphere and that starts with me - nobody wants a grumpy barman."
