FIVE men have been arrested by armed police after a group with a machete was involved in violent disorder outside a pub. 

Armed officers were called to an incident outside The Bakery Inn in Worcester Road, Malvern, after reports of about eight men causing violent disorder. 

There was also a dog handler and patrol officers. 

Neighbours were asked to stay indoors while the disorder was ongoing. 

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a group of men involved in a violent disorder outside The Bakery Inn, Malvern around 12.40pm yesterday (Sunday 29 September).

"The group of around eight men included one with a machete.

"An armed police unit as well as dog handler and patrol officers attended the scene.

"Members of the public were asked to stay indoors during the incident which lasted for about an hour.

"Five males were arrested for violent disorder. It is not currently believed that anyone was injured.

"An investigation has been launched into the incident which is thought to be isolated.   

"We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and assistance with this investigation while enquires are being carried out."

The landlady of The Bakery Inn said: "It was between our gates and the perfume shop next door. 

"It had nothing to do with The Bakery Inn and as soon as we heard the shouting we locked the doors so nobody could get in or out. 

"It lasted for about 45 minutes, we had the police around this morning (September 30) and none of the incident was caught on our CCTV at the front because it was so far down."
