Care professionals across Worcestershire are being celebrated during Professional Care Workers' Week.

Severn Vale Home Care, which is based in Worcester and serves clients across the county, has extended a "heartfelt thank you" to its team of "outstanding care professionals" for their hard work and dedication.

The care provider was also grateful to its clients for their appreciation, kind words, and five-star reviews.

The home care company also puts in community work, with a team having been seen at the Worcester Festival, where they participated as patrons, alongside Percy the Peacock.

This week (September 24-30), the company is sharing the stories of its carers, highlighting the impact they have on the lives of clients.

One of the carers being celebrated is Lucy Gooderham, who has been nominated for the West Midlands Care Association Excellence in Care Awards 2024.

Ms Gooderham, who previously worked in a pet shop, discovered her passion for supporting people after joining the company

She said: "I can’t imagine doing anything else."

Despite being offered promotions, Ms Gooderham has chosen to remain in her role providing direct care, as she finds it rewarding.

The company's managing director, Stuart Callister, said: "We are incredibly proud of our team.

"Our carers work tirelessly to improve the lives of our clients, often going beyond what is expected to provide care that is not only professional but also compassionate and personal."

Another carer being recognised this week is Vicky Wicks, who was awarded 'Carer of the Month' in the spring for her contributions.

The high-quality care provided by the pair and the rest of the Severn Vale team is reflected in the reviews it has received over the summer, which have contributed to its 9.8 rating on Homecare.co.uk.

One review from September 2024 reads: "Severn Vale carers have looked after my mum for a year with two to three visits per day.
