VISITORS to Worcestershire Royal Hospital have been asked to wear face masks after a spike in Covid cases.

Patients, visitors and staff are now being asked to wear face masks in all clinical areas.

The Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and the Kidderminster Hospital have enacted similar actions.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said there has been a recent increase in Covid-positive patients in its hospitals.

A statement released by the trust said: "Patients, visitors and staff at the Alexandra, Kidderminster, and Worcestershire Royal Hospitals are now being asked to wear facemasks in all clinical areas to protect themselves and our staff against the risk of Covid infection.

"With the number of Covid-positive patients increasing in our hospitals, we want to do everything we can to protect the people we care for from the risk of infection, and we are grateful for the support and understanding of our patients and visitors."

The Trust provides a wide range of services to a population of 592,158 people in Worcestershire as well as caring for patients from surrounding counties and further afield.
