The family-friendly event will be inspired by Brothers Grimm fairy tales, and will feature light, colour, and sound displays throughout the estate, which is near Worcester.

Visitors will be able to explore the grand ruins of the former stately home and its gardens, which will be inhabited by characters from the famous tales.

The journey will end at the illuminated ruins of the house.

Ella Harrison, events manager at English Heritage, said: "Illuminated Witley Court is a unique Halloween experience that all ages can enjoy inspired by the famous tales of the Brothers Grimm.

"We’ve really enjoyed making this beautiful place even more spectacular by our illuminations and storytellers.

"Don’t forget to wrap up warm and be ready to capture some amazing photos of your visit."

The event will run from 4.30pm to 6.30pm each day, and entry will be by timed ticket only.

Pre-booking is advised.

Tickets are priced at £16 for adults, £9.50 for children, and £41.50 for a family of two adults and three children.

There are reduced prices for English Heritage members.

The venue is a Grade I listed building, which was gutted by a fire in 1937.

It was once one of the great houses of the Midlands, and was owned by the Foley family in the 17th century.

In the 19th century, the house was remodelled for the Ward family.

It was sold in 1920, and was a hotel and country club before the fire.
