'Devastated' volunteers have described how three women stole from a charity shop which provides a lifeline to older people.
Staff and volunteers at the Age UK charity shop in Ambleside Drive in Warndon in Worcester said three young women entered the shop on Wednesday at about 3pm, stealing six items.
Although the matter has not yet been reported to West Mercia Police, staff and volunteers say the matter is 'in hand to be reported' after the women, described as being in their 20s, made off with between £40 and £50 worth of stock.
The items stolen include a brand new white dress, a pair of sliding shoes, a handbag, a hoody and items of children's clothing.
A shop worker, who did not wish to be named, said: "They just helped themselves. I didn't see them myself but I found the empty coat hangers. We are going to get more and more of this because of the cost of living crisis. I feel devastated.
"We are supposed to be here to help elderly people and if people come in and steal from the place, we can't meet their needs. The lady on the till at the time is quite upset by it. These shops play a vital role in helping the elderly.

"Elderly people come in here and buy clothes but also donate themselves to help other older people less fortunate then themselves. It's a heartless offence really. It's very inconsiderate.
"It is in hand to be reported."
West Mercia Police is unable to provide a comment until the offence is officially reported although a spokesperson encouraged members of the public to always report such offences.
Age UK is the country's leading charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life, providing services and support 'at a national and local level to inspire, enable and support older people'.
