Worcester residents are being asked to share their views on proposed changes to the locations of polling stations.

Worcester City Council is reviewing the places where people go to vote and wants to hear what the public thinks about possible changes.

Last month, the council asked people to fill in a survey about the current polling locations and the facilities available at these stations.

The feedback has been considered by the council's acting returning officer, who has suggested some changes.

A second consultation will now take place over the next four weeks, giving people the chance to comment on these proposed changes.

The suggested changes include new polling locations within the Arboretum, Cathedral, Nunnery, and Fort Royal wards, as well as recommendations to change some voting boundaries.

People have until Monday, October 21 to make any comments.

Sian Stroud, acting returning officer for the Worcester constituency, said: "We want to make sure that everyone in Worcester who is eligible to vote can exercise their democratic right in a place that is accessible for them.

"After each election, we listen to your feedback, make tweaks to voting arrangements, and resolve any problems which might deter voters from visiting their designated polling station.

"Thank you for letting us know your views on the location of polling stations and the experience of voting.

"Please take a look at what is proposed changes for your polling place."

She added: "You now have an opportunity to comment on any proposed changes before they are implemented, ahead of the next election in Worcester.

"We would particularly like to hear from disabled residents and people with expertise in access for people with any type of disability, to make sure our polling stations are open to everybody.

"Remember to state which polling district, polling place, and polling station you are making comments about when completing feedback."

The results of the review will be discussed at a council committee meeting later in the year.
