An independent advisory group is seeking new members to help improve policing services in South Worcestershire.

The South Worcestershire Independent Advisory Group (IAG) is looking for people to join their team and play an important role in assisting leaders and officers across the county.

The group offers advice on policies, procedures, and practices to ensure effective policing in areas such as Worcester, Evesham, Pershore, Droitwich, Kempsey, Tenbury Wells, Upton, and the surrounding regions.

The IAG is made up of trusted individuals from diverse backgrounds who act as independent advisors to the police.

They provide constructive feedback on police policy, projects, and actions from their personal perspective as recipients of police services and as members of the community.

Chair of group, Chris Mair, said: "Our role as an independent voice, offering constructive commentary and advice across a range of policing policies and activities, is both valued and respected.

"We welcome members from across all our communities.

"This means we can provide the broadest, unbiased response and commentary on the many matters put before us, acting as 'critical friends' to benefit neighbourhood policing."

The group is particularly interested in people with an interest in policing issues and current affairs, specifically in respect of how they affect people in the area.

Members should live or work in South Worcestershire and be able to volunteer a few hours every couple of months to share their opinions and advice on policing matters.

Sue Haywood, a member of the group, said: "Although I have lived in various places around the country, I grew up in Malvern and, having recently returned, wanted to contribute to the local community in some way.

"I believe IAGs can provide an important voice to leaders and decision-makers in West Mercia, and it is very rewarding to be part of that."
