Suckley Primary School has opened a new sensory garden to help with pupils' learning and wellbeing.

Suckley Primary School's garden was partly funded by the Suckley Quarter Marathon (SQM) team, who were invited to cut the ribbon at the official opening.

The all-female race organisation team, who raised £3,718.87 for charity in March, donated £2,000 to the school to help create the garden.

Race director Lily Price said: "We had a really joyful morning at Suckley School opening the new sensory garden.

"We are so pleased to be able to help the school we attended as children.

"We had a lot of fun playing in the garden and exploring barefoot with some of the children.

"It’s very rewarding to help create a garden that will support the wellbeing of pupils for years to come."

The garden will be used as a learning space for lessons in a variety of subjects and will help pupils learn about biodiversity, the five senses, plant life cycles, the seasons, and will provide opportunities to study insects and other wildlife up close.

The SQM team is now looking for sponsors for next year's race, which will be held on May 18, 2025.
