A PUB is hoping to be put in the record books after potentially making the longest bratwurst ever made in the UK.
The Castle in Droitwich has made a bratwurst (a German sausage) over 12 metres long which is the longest ever made in the Midlands and potentially the longest ever made in the UK.
The pub made the sausage to celebrate their new Oktoberfest menu.
The size of the bratwurst , which was 12.12 metres long, was made to symbolise the 1,212km between Munich and The Castle.
Hundreds of pub-goers enjoyed eating the free sausage following the unveiling yesterday (September 21) after which The Castle had Oktoberfest games and a live Oompah Band.
Rebecca Hall, general manager at The Castle, said: "Droitwich Spa is a long way from Munich, so we wanted to give our customers a taste of Oktoberfest in their local pub - and make history with the longest bratwurst in the Midlands.
"Our team had a lot of fun grilling this authentic bratwurst and will be delighted to serve customers German bratwurst from the same recipe and other Oktoberfest favourites until the end of October."
The Castle is owned by Seared Pubs and Greene King.
The Oktoberfest Menu, is available until October 31 and offers customers schnitzel, bratwurst and steins of German beer.
Marc Razzell, The Sausage Man, who supplies the bratwurst for Seared Pubs, said: "When Seared Pubs approached us, we were keen to take on this challenge.
"We’ve been making bratwursts for decades using a recipe that’s been handed down from generation to generation in Germany - it’s as traditional as you can get.
"It’s exciting to know that there will be enough of this authentic bratwurst for everyone to try, alongside other Oktoberfest staples like schnitzel and Bavarian beer.”
