A DELIGHTED headteacher paid tribute to staff following her pre school's latest Ofsted rating.

Green Lane Pre School, which is part of St Barnabas CofE Primary School on Green Lane, Worcester, has been rated 'Good' by Ofsted following its inspection on June 28 this year.

Ofsted inspectors said the preschool is 'Good' in quality of education and leadership, while behaviour and attitudes were given Outstanding leading to an overall rating of Good.

Sarah Hanson, headteacher of St Barnabas CofE Primary and Green Lane Pre School, said: "We are delighted that our vibrant pre-school has been recognised as being a good provider with outstanding behaviour and attitudes.

"Children are very confident and behave exceptionally well, due to the high quality and highly trained staff and exciting provision every day."

In its official report, Ofsted commented that children "leave their parents or carers with ease and greet the nurturing staff team with a big smile and a cuddle".

The report also highlights that children at Green Lane Pre School are "confident and behave exceptionally well" while they "develop good communication and language skills".

Mrs Hanson reserved particular praise for her staff who are led by pre school leader Jo Margretts.

Mrs Hanson said: "I want to pay tribute to our staff who work tirelessly to care for, educate and prepare the children for the next stage of their education.

"I am particularly pleased to see that the focus on learning to speak and communicate well has been recognised, as well as encouraging every child to make friends, be curious, love stories, and playing outside as these are the experiences that parents want for their children and these are the things that ensure all children can flourish and reach their full potential."

Ofsted's report states that "staff provide children with a good balance of adult-led and child-initiated play", and praises Green Lane Pre School's staff on their support for children with special educational needs.

The report further highlights the strong link between the preschool and St Barnabas CofE Primary which, according to Ofsted, means "children are very well prepared for the move to school."
