New accessible play equipment has been installed at the community centre of a Worcester estate.

A nest swing has been added to the Green Hub in Dines Green, as part of Worcester City Council's ongoing investment in facilities.

The new swing was installed after the council was approached about the lack of suitable play equipment for those with additional needs.

The new swing is accessible to all and aims to help improve balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.

This investment is part of the council’s Play Plan, which aims to enhance outdoor play areas for youngsters over the next decade.

Councillor Robyn Norfolk, chair of the council’s Place and Economic Development Committee, and councillor for Dines Green and Grove Farm, said: "It is great to see the council improving play equipment which is suitable for everybody.

"It’s important that as a council we meet the needs of people using our play facilities.

"It’s brilliant to see children enjoying the new equipment."

She added: "The swing is not only accessible but also encourages social interaction as several children can use the equipment at the same time.

"We are continuing to investigate new ways that we can improve play provision across Worcester."

Leisa Taylor, youth work project manager at Worcester Community Trust, added: "It's fabulous to see the city council's investment in accessible play areas and its commitment to its Play Plan.

"Worcester Community Trust runs sessions for young people aged eight to 11 and 12 to 18 on Wednesdays at the Green Hub.

"It's great to have access to good play facilities to enhance our work here as well as our sessions at the Horizon Hub on Thursdays, where a shelter has been built for young people and the multi-use games area (MUGA) has been improved.

"We also deliver sessions at KGV Hub in Brickfields on Fridays, where we have access to good sport facilities."
