Mr Pollard returned to the university last year to complete a postgraduate certificate in mental health and wellbeing practitioner in specialist adult mental health, which he graduated from this week.

He said: "It’s been wonderful to return and to graduate all over again.

"Coming to the university is where it all started for me and it’s lovely to be back."

Mr Pollard, who currently works in Wyre Forest, was welcomed back to the university by Matthew Jellis, head of department in the School of Psychology.

Mr Jellis supervised Mr Pollard’s undergraduate dissertation in 1997.

Mr Jellis said: "It’s really wonderful to see former students come back.

"We are always so proud to see people take what we teach and apply it in the world, making a real difference."
