A WORCESTER councillor says the success of the city’s Southern Link Road is “debatable”.
Richard Udall, speaking in a county council meeting on Thursday (September 12), said: “It’s just become a place for queuing for the M5. I spent 30 minutes queuing on it this morning.”
Cllr Udall again raised the idea of a northern link road to complete Worcester’s ring road, something he said he has been suggesting for years.
Council leader Simon Geraghty said in response: “One of the best investments this council has made is to dual that road. It has been a huge success.
“I think this is indisputable. Not just in terms of easing congestion but growing the economy.
“And it’s not just about cars, but walking and cycling.”
He said the council is awaiting government guidance in the form of a Local Transport Plan.
