A DISTRAUGHT couple are searching for their dog after she ran away while they were on holiday.

Michael Anthony and Gaynor Rogers, from Bristol, were in Turkey when their dog Gracie went missing from its dog sitter in Pershore on Sunday (September 8).

People in the town are looking for the dog while Jane Fallon, comedian Ricky Gervais' girlfriend, shared the appeal to her 140k followers.

Mr Anthony said: "We dropped off Gracie at the dog sitters on the Saturday and flew out to Izmir.

"Then she ran out of the front door on the Sunday morning and hasn't been seen since.

"We found out on the Monday while we were still just trying to get our bearings in Turkey, but we got the first flight we could back to the UK which was a day later."

Mr Anthony has called several organisation for help to track her down: "We initially contacted DroneSAR as soon as we got back to the UK and they've been helping search around Pershore."

DroneSAR is a service that helps reunite lost dogs with their owners using drones and ground searchers.

They have over 7,000 volunteers in their ranks and have helped to find 4,500 across the UK and Ireland in the last six years.

On Friday, Mr Anthony also reached out to Sky Paws, a volunteer drone service who spent several hours searching around Pershore and the surrounding area.

Mr Anthony has also received help from organisations such as Missing Pets, but they have yet to find Gracie.

"They think, because she's in the countryside, no one has come across her," he said.

Pershore and the wider dog community have got behind finding Gracie.

Mr Anthony said: "Pershore is flooded with posters of her to try and help."

Gracie is a small black and grey dachshund-cross, with hair longer than an average long-haired dachshund and a an underbite.

She is a Bosnian rescue dog who had spent part of her life living on the street, and can be quite nervous if suddenly grabbed, but is friendly and comfortable being approached by anyone who has food on them.

Any sightings of Gracie can be reported to Mr Anthony on 07804 927504 or 07533 538754.
