A new volunteer portal is being developed to help people find volunteering opportunities in Worcestershire.

The project is being led by Worcestershire County Council, with the aim of creating a centralised platform for residents and organisations.

The portal will provide an online space for organisations to advertise and for residents to search for volunteering opportunities in their community.

To ensure the portal meets the needs of all users, the council is looking for feedback from both volunteers and organisations that use volunteers.

Two surveys have been launched to gather this feedback, and will remain open until Sunday, September 29.

Councillor Karen May, cabinet member for communities for the county council, said: "We are thrilled to be able to make this important investment into volunteer recruitment.

"Volunteering is a great way for people to give back to their communities.

"It also supports individuals’ health and wellbeing.

"We are hoping to encourage as many people as possible to help us create a portal that will work best for them."

The portal has been funded by the Department of Health and Social Care’s Accelerating Reform Fund, which aims to support volunteering across the health and social care system.
