A MAN and his cat were rescued from a narrowboat after it crashed into a boom on the River Severn.
Firefighters were called out to stop the boat from sinking after it became caught in the floating barrier by Diglis Weir.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three fire crews, including the Malvern Water First Responders, plus boat crews from Worcester and Evesham and the drone from Wyre Forest were called at 3.40pm on Tuesday (September 10).
"A narrowboat was dislodged from a boom and moored in a safe place while crews assisted with pumping out the vessel as it was taking on water.
"One man and a cat were rescued from the boat."
