32 runners will be getting their trainers on to raise money for a national youth charity at the 10th Worcester City Runs.

The runners, making up 'Team ONSIDE', are making their final preparations before taking on the challenge on Sunday (September 15).

Amongst those taking on the 10k challenge is ONSIDE's interim deputy chief executive, Ruth Heywood.

She said: "We've got the most amazing group of runners supporting ONSIDE.

"The team is made up of staff, trustees, friends, family, and ONSIDE supporters.

"They have all spent the last couple of months training hard and supporting each other to get run ready.

"Most of the team are running the 10k but three are literally going the extra miles and tackling the half marathon."

One supporter, Julia Williams, of Worcestershire Ambassadors, said: "I'm running for Team ONSIDE even though I have never participated in a race before.

"My motivation stems from my belief in ONSIDE and the incredible work they do.

"Supporting ONSIDE through this race is my way of giving back.

"With resilience and dedication, we can achieve remarkable things."

Ms Heywood added: "It is a brilliant event for Worcester City and this year marks the 10th anniversary which is set to be a sell out.

"The atmosphere for runners and supporters will be awesome – our cheer squads will make sure of that."

The charity will be encouraging all runners at two "cheer points" on the course and volunteers are welcome to get involved and join the fun by emailing runforonside@onside-advocacy.org.uk.

The public are also able to show their support by donating to the charity via its Just Giving page (https://www.justgiving.com/page/onside-1720014402989?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Fonside-1720014402989&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share).

ONSIDE has been supporting people across the county for more than 30 years.

The charity provides a range of services to improve the lives of people who may face disadvantages or are struggling with the challenges of life.

The charity's staff and volunteers made a difference to the lives of more than 11,000 people last year.
