AN appeal for funds has been launched after an attack on a rugby club during which charity buckets were stolen and windows smashed.
As previously reported, the break-in happened at Droitwich Rugby Club in the early hours of Monday morning, causing significant damage.
Now Adam Ierston has organised a fundraiser to provide the club with funds in the wake of the incident. So far the appeal on the Go Fund Me page has raised £290 raised towards a £4,500 target.
The club was open today (Tuesday) and playing host to a dementia cafe although staff declined to comment further about the incident.
A spokesperson for the club's management committee said on Monday: "We at Droitwich Rugby Club are very saddened to report that we have been subject to a break in resulting in significant vandalism last night (Early Hours of Monday 2nd September).
"We are now working with the police and forensic Teams as we have clear images of the perpetrator involved.
"The club is a voluntary organisation which works very hard to bring sport and events to the town, Most recently Wychfest just last weekend.
"DRFC will, as always continue our hard work but this has unfortunately resulted in cancelling todays NHS Give Blood Session at the club. Huge apologies for the inconvenience caused by this and hopefully with support of the local police and authorities we will get to the bottom of who has done this.
"We have significant damages at DRFC with windows along with staffs tips and charity buckets that have also been stolen. If anyone would like to make a contribution to DRFC to recover these your support is much appreciated."
The burglary took place overnight on Sunday, September 1.
