Farming clubs in Worcestershire are celebrating the success of their speed shear event after raising thousands for charity.
Inkberrow and Bromsgrove Young Farmers Clubs joined forces to host the Worcester Charity Speed Shear in Redditch on Sunday, August 25.
The event saw experienced sheep shearers compete against the clock to shear a lamb faster and better than anyone else.
Classes included junior, intermediate, senior and veteran with the competition taking place at Brookhouse Farm with kind permission from Sam Jones.
More than 200 people came out to show their support for the 20 entries across a range of speed shear classes.
The event proved very popular with the bar running out of beer at 7.30pm with "emergency supplies" having to be brought in to keep up with demand.
200 burgers from Perrystone Meats were also sold out by the end of the night.
The charity auction run by Ben Williams raised £1,900 contributing to a total of £5,889.34.
The money is set to be split 50/50 between Macmillan and Yellow Wellies.
Jen Tyson, co chair of Inkberrow YFC, said: "On behalf of Inkberrow and Bromsgrove Young Farmers Clubs, I wanted to say a huge thank you for your sponsorship and donations at our charity speed shear event.
"A huge thank you also goes out to Sam Jones for hosting our event, Richard Schofield for judging the classes, Jono Bradley for commentating and everyone behind the scenes.
"Without your support, this event could not have taken place, so again thank you very much. Here’s to next year."
