An inclusive circus show for disabled and disadvantaged children is set to make its return to Worcester.

Circus Starr, a non-profit organisation, will perform shows that include a British Sign Language (BSL) signer.

This addition ensures that deaf audience members will be able to keep up with all aspects of the performance, and will not miss a thing.

The circus began inviting BSL interpreters to their events before deciding to include them in their entire Autumn tour.

Unlike commercial circuses, Circus Starr has said it makes efforts to adapt its event to suit its unique audience by decreasing the volume, toning down the lights, offering sensory packs and providing free tickets.

The circus hopes to reach those who often miss out on such experiences due to circumstances beyond their control, such as children who are deaf, disabled, have additional learning needs or are disadvantaged.

The show will feature Ringmistress Mariska Gandey, funny Brazilian clown Lucus, and the acrobatic talents of Fingers Crossed.

The circus' fundraising director Michelle Crossley said: "We love sharing our fun events with those who usually miss out.

"Whilst our show is very visual, it is important to us that those who are deaf can enjoy the performance in its entirety, and we are proud to have the interpreters at each of our shows to help make that possible.

"Thank you so much to the kind businesses who help us continue our valuable work."

The circus has said that its efforts for inclusivity and accessibility are only made possible by the donations of community-driven businesses.

These organisations cover the cost of children's tickets, ensuring that the circus can continue to provide these types of performances.

The performances are set for 4.45pm and 7pm at Swan Theatre on Monday, September 9.
