AN abandoned caravan fire led emergency services to search for its owner. 

The abandoned caravan and a large amount of fly-tipped rubbish were set alight in Ombersley.

It had been left in a layby on Bishops Wood Road and was "fully destroyed" along with ten meters of hedgerow. 

The incident had led police and fire crews to search for the owner but they could not be found.

A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Two crews – one each from Wyre Forest and Droitwich Fire Stations was called at 8pm on August 31 to a caravan/camping fire in Bishops Wood Road, Ombersley.

"An abandoned caravan in a layby was fully destroyed by fire which had spread to around 10m of hedgerow.

"Crews used two hosereel jets to extinguish the fires and conducted a search of the local area with police.

"No persons were found.

"Worcestershire County Council were notified of the incident due to a large amount of fly-tipped waste and the burned-out caravan.

"The incident was marked as pending closure at 11.07pm."

A West Mercia Police spokesperson added: "At around 10pm on Saturday, August 31, we attended a caravan fire on Bishops Wood Road in Ombersley to assist the fire service with traffic management. 

"No arrests were made."
