A MAN arrested by armed police for making alleged threats has been released on bail.

We have previously reported how Brickfields Road in Worcester was closed last Monday (August 26) after police received reports of a man making threats.

A man handed himself into police later that evening.

Armed officers in personal protective equipment were seen to escort the man away in handcuffs before the cordon was lifted and the road reopened to traffic.

"The man who was arrested has been released on bail," said a spokesperson for West Mercia Police.

Residents were stopped from returning to their homes while it was ongoing and a cordon was placed across the street with officers standing guard near Acacia Close.

A police aircraft from Nottingham was also circling above the area.

The police have since said the incident was "domestic-related".

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said in a previous statement: "Police were called at 7.35pm last night to Brickfields Road in Worcester after a man was making threats.

"A man was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.

"There was not believed to be any risk to the wider public however a cordon was put in place to allow the incident to be dealt with safely."
