A FAMILY has helped to get one of Worcestershire's favourite sweets back on shelves after months of uncertainty.

Liz Jerrett, 41, from Droitwich, has bought Wychbold Fudge after previous owners Sheena and Adam Beck decided to close the business in February.

Miss Jerrett said: "I've known the previous owners for years.

"When I heard they weren't going to continue, I thought about taking over for a few months.

"Eventually, I just decided to give it a go."

Wychbold Fudge was first started by Justin and Helga Bowen in 2014 before the Becks took over in 2020.

The business is known for creating the first food product using Droitwich salt as an ingredient for around 100 years.

Miss Jerrett told customers via Facebook: "I would like to introduce ourselves as the new owners of Wychbold Fudge.

"We have recently taken over from the lovely Sheena and family and look forward to supplying you all with the same delicious fudge you know and love."

While new to making fudge, Miss Jerrett has plenty of similar experiences behind her.

"I've always worked in the food industry," she said.

"I work full-time at Churchfields farm making the ice cream and the Droitwich salt which is sold there.

"Before that, I worked in a lot of pub kitchens for years."

Now in charge at Wychbold Fudge, Miss Jerrett is not rushing into anything.

"We have only just taken over in the past couple of weeks.

"I'm just slowly launching it by getting the fudge back into delis and farm shops."

So far, she has returned the fudge to Churchfield's Farm in Droitwich, Droitwich Heritage Centre, The Really Good Dairy in Earl's Croome and Bell's Farm Shop in Stourport on Severn.

Once she is confident running the business, Miss Jerrett is excited to try something new.

She said: "I've got ideas for a few new flavours that I would like to try and I'd really like to do a rebrand of the business."
