A FIRST floor will be added to a bungalow in Worcester despite the objections of neighbours.

Worcester City Council has granted prior approval for the owners of a bungalow in St Swithuns Close to build an additional floor.

Neighbours had raised concerns over their properties being overlooked and the impact of parking in the area.

But city planners said the proposals were “acceptable in regard to neighbouring amenity” and pointed out that the property already has three off-road parking spaces - meeting the requirements for a four-bedroom house.

They said the nearest neighbouring property to the bungalow is 18 metres away and would not be overlooked.

“The proposal complies with the permitted development criteria for enlargement of a dwellinghouse by construction of additional storey and the correct procedures have been followed,” said planning officers.

“It is therefore recommended that prior approval is granted.”
