A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a car crashed into a home.

Church Street in Pershore was filled with emergency vehicles after a car crash into a home yesterday evening.

The woman, who has been described as being elderly, was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch for further assessment of her injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said they believed her injuries were not serious and confirmed she was the car's driver. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: “We were called just before 7pm on Thursday to a road traffic collision involving a car and a wall on Church Street, Pershore.

"One ambulance attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found an elderly woman who was the driver of the car.

"She was assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious.

"She was conveyed to Alexandra Hospital for further assessment.”

According to emergency services, only cosmetic damage was done to the property.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said the car had already been moved out of the home when they arrived.

They said: "Two crews – one each from Worcester and Evesham Fire Stations – were called at 6.47pm on August 29 to a road traffic incident into a building in Church Street, Pershore.

"No persons were trapped and there was cosmetic damage only to the building.

"The car had been moved out of the building before the arrival of the fire service.

"One female casualty was handed over to the care of the ambulance service who attended along with police.

"The incident was marked as pending closure at 7.21pm."

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police added: "Police were called to Church Street in Pershore yesterday (August 29) at around 6.50pm to a collision, where a car has collided with a house.

"There were no injuries reported and the damage to the building was slight."
