A 'very large' city centre bar has been listed for sale for £450,000.

The Courtyard, which is in St Nicholas Street in Worcester, has been put up for sale by the site's owner Admiral Taverns.

The brewery, which is headquartered in Chester, also owns The Swan in Barbourne alongside pubs in Malvern and Tibberton.

Property agents Sidney Phillips, who specialise in licensed properties, have listed The Courtyard for a freehold price of £450,000 on Admiral Taverns' behalf.

Managing director of Sidney Phillips, Robert Mence FAVLP, said: "This is a very large property, once a 'Berni' Inn, which offers a number of possibilities for development as a major hospitality venue or for a number of alternative or split uses."

A spokesperson for Admiral Taverns said: “We are strong believers in the importance of community pubs and our focus is always on helping our licensees to run sustainable pub businesses.

"After careful consideration, however, we felt in this instance that The Courtyard did not have a long-term sustainable future within our estate and we've therefore taken the decision to put the pub up for sale."

The building consists of three interconnecting ground floor bar areas.

There are three rooms on the first floor that were formerly a restaurant space, and a three-bedroom flat on the second floor - all of which accumulate to almost 13,000 square feet of space.

The property also features an enclosed rear courtyard.

Sidney Phillips has described The Courtyard as a "substantial and traditional venue bar in the very centre of Worcester" and notes that it's a "stunning white and black building offering traditional features whilst being well equipped with contemporary furnishings and appliances."
