In the UK, Brits can start their own petitions for the things they’d like to change, including anything from ending child poverty to making a verified ID compulsory when setting up new social media accounts.
However, some petitions are not accepted and a TikTok user has shared some of the rejected applications to the video platform.
A user called Liv with the username @olivvviiiaaaaaaa shared a variety of petitions that didn’t make it to the signature stage, including one that requested One Direction get back together and another which asked for Shrek to be put back onto Netflix.
TikTok user shares rejected UK government petitions
@olivvviiiaaaaaaa on TikTok shared a few hilarious petitions that Brits failed to get passed with one asking for the government to ‘get One Direction but to do a concert’, adding “get them back together because i can’t live without seeing them live’.

At the time of writing, the video has surpassed one million views on TikTok.
One petition was calling for ‘A day off on your birthday or double pay’ with the comment “put it into law” while another said ‘put shrek back on netflix’, with the person demanding the government to “put it back”.
‘Tell the truth about Santa’ was another request with a lengthy comment, reading: “The government should tell the truth about Santa thus alleviating some of the pain when children find out and also removing some of the very capitalist nature of what Christmas has become.”
Someone else tried asking the people to back their General Election themed petition which asked the government to ‘Put “none of the above” on all general election ballot forms.’
They added: “…because of the countrywide lack of public faith in today’s generation of politicians”. Again, this was rejected.
All rejected UK government petitions can be found via the website.
Now onto sport where someone tried setting up a petition to ‘abolish the 3pm broadcasting blackout rule for Premier League football matches’, adding: “Televised live football matches have been subject to a 3pm broadcasting blackout since the 1960’s, with the UK being the only country to have this rule in place. With match going fans struggling to buy tickets, it is wholly unfair that they are unable to view matches on television.”
Sticking to football, one sport fan turned to the government to ask for a ‘small football pitch’ close to where they live. Their petition was titled ‘I would like a small football pitch made near my house to play with my friends.’
They added: “It is because people keep telling us off for playing football and trying to stay active in summer and this would be a good way to keep peace and have fun at the same time” – good point well made.

‘Put David Attenborough on a bank note’ was another submitted request and it’s no surprise since the conservationist and broadcaster is dubbed a ‘national treasure’ by many.
They added: “To officially recognize his importance to humanity and this being enshrined in the very thing that is causing ecological damage. This would be a reminder to not base all our values on a thing that is destroying the world.”
And finally, a David Tennant fan called for the Scottish actor to be made a Lord.
They said: “Give David Tennant a Lordship”.
