Alton Towers Resort has been named among Britain's 12 best theme parks in a list by The Telegraph.
Introducing the list, The Telegraph said: “From vintage rollercoasters to children’s television characters, these are the attractions to visit this summer”.
The Staffordshire theme park was ranked in 9th place and its ability to cater for a wide range of age groups was noted. Here’s what The Telegraph had to say.
What did The Telegraph say about Alton Towers?
The Telegraph shared a bit of history when discussing Alton Towers Resort, saying: “Once a private estate, Alton Towers became a theme park in 1980. Since then, it has developed into one of the UK’s most popular, with rides like Oblivion gaining near-mythical status among rollercoaster fans.
“Those more high-octane coasters make it an ideal option for teenagers, but Cbeebies World – celebrating 10 years of brightly coloured existence this year – should please younger members of the party, too. Superfans can stay in the Cbeebies Land Hotel, too, which includes themed rooms and evening entertainment.”
Whether you’re looking for a thrilling day out or want to enjoy a fun outing with the family, there is plenty to do at Alton Towers.
The Telegraph explains that for those wanting to stay on-site, there are a few options, including the resort’s Splash Landings Hotel.
There is a waterpark located in the hotel’s basement with prices starting at £152 per night.

“The queue times significantly decreased after 3pm and we mopped up the last rides before catching the monorail back to the car park. Booked online the day before with a 10% voucher code for better than half price on the door. Excellent value for money x x x”.
