DRIVERS filling up for a busy bank holiday may wonder which petrol station has the cheapest fuel in Worcester.

Fuel prices are one of many items that have skyrocketed in price in recent years.

Many have found their fuel prices rising into triple digits and are looking for ways to bring it down.

12 fuel stations owned by Texaco, Esso, BP, Tesco and Sainsbury's are spread throughout Worcester.

While prices can fluctuate from day to day, the cheapest locations will often remain the cheapest.

Unleaded

Unleaded is the cheapest fuel and the most common in personal vehicles. Tesco St Peters Drive offered the cheapest unleaded anywhere in the city at 140.9 pence per litre.

Nine of the petrol stations offered unleaded at the same price: 141.9p, while Esso London Road charged 142.9p and BP Malvern Road priced their unleaded at 144.9p.

Diesel

Diesel is used by larger personal vehicles as well as vans and trucks. On average, it is slightly more expensive than unleaded but is also more efficient.

Texaco Tolladine Road leads the way in value for diesel in Worcester at just 143.9p, while BP Malvern Road and Esso Ombersley Road are the joint-most expensive at 147.9p.

Both unleaded and diesel have premium options with performance-related benefits at a higher price: super unleaded and premium diesel.

Super unleaded

Super unleaded is a petrol higher octane rating, which can improve engine performance, lower fuel consumption, and a smoother and quieter drive.

All 12 stations in Worcester provide drivers with the option of filling with super unleaded. Tesco St Peters Drive was the cheapest, with an incredibly low price of 147.9p, six pence cheaper than Sainsbury's Windermere Drive in second place.

The most expensive super unleaded provider was BP Malvern Road at 162.9p.

Premium diesel

Premium diesel includes extra additives in its mix, which help to reduce wear, improve performance and deliver better fuel economy for the vehicle, allowing drivers to travel further on the same volume of fuel.

The cheapest location for premium diesel in Worcester was Texaco Droitwich Road with a price of just 159.9p, while the two most expensive locations were Esso Bath Road and Esso Ombersley Road at 165.9p

Three fuel stations in the city did not stock premium diesel: Texaco Henwick Road, Tesco St Peters Drive and Sainsbury's Windermere Drive.
