A CONSERVATIVE councillor has lodged a formal complaint after unpleasant comments were made against him by someone claiming to be a party member.
Cllr Alan Amos, the last Conservative city councillor, has been targeted by online comments made about him by a person using the name Seb James which is also the name of the deputy chairman of the Worcester Conservative Association.
Mr James said he would not confirm or deny whether he is behind the account but would engage with any formal investigation once he became aware one was underway.
Worcester News understands a formal complaint has been submitted to and acknowledged by the Conservative Party at Conservative Campaign Headquarters.
One of the comments on the Worcester News website was made under the name 'Seb James' who said he would rather drink his own urine than support Cllr Amos.
However, Mr James, deputy chairman of the Worcester Conservative Association, declined to confirm whether he had written the comment.
Mr James said there were 'policies and processes to follow' and he was 'not aware that Cllr Amos had made any formal complaint'.
"I will engage with any processes as and when they arise," he said.
It appeared on an online story on the Worcester News website regarding 'milestones', a type of bollard being installed on the A449 Malvern Road in Worcester.
Cllr Amos also asked why senior figures in the association, including its chairman and the former Parliamentary candidate, Marc Bayliss, have not publicly condemned the comments.
Neither Mr James, deputy chairman of the association, nor Marc Bayliss, the chairman of the association, were aware of any complaint being made to the local association when the issue was raised with them.
Cllr Amos, a city councillor for Lower Wick and Pitmaston and a county councillor for Bedwardine, described the comments as personal and vile.
"Such behaviour is unprecedented and I have never experienced anything like it, not even from my political opponents.
"I would expect the chairman and the other Association officers to unreservedly condemn such behaviour and take action immediately.
"Given his other role as deputy police and crime commissioner for West Mercia, people will naturally expect only the very highest standards of integrity and probity from Mr Bayliss and thus zero tolerance for such behaviour in his own backyard."

Marc Bayliss, chairman of Worcester Conservatives: "At this point I am rather confused by this story as Alan Amos has made no complaint to either myself or any other officer of the association.
"As a long-standing member of the Conservative Party I am sure he is aware that if he has an issue or concern the correct process is to raise them first within the party so that they can be investigated. I have sought to contact Alan over the weekend to ask him to provide any details but at this point have heard nothing."
