A MOTHER and daughter have reopened a historic Worcester pub which has been closed since before covid.
Sharon Jones has dived into the deep end after reopening The Bush Inn in St Johns with daughter Madison despite neither having previous experience of being a landlady.
The new landlady has tried to keep the pub as traditional as possible by not changing too much apart from adding Sky TV and live music.
And it seems to have worked as she said the pub has been absolutely packed since reopening on Friday (August 16).
Mrs Jones said: "It's been like a bottle of Champagne.
"It's been absolutely packed.
"I think when the word got out that this iconic pub was going to reopen the word spread like wildfire and it's been amazing.
"We have had a lot of the older generation come in who used to sit in here all those years ago and their eyes and faces have been beaming.
"We had Chalky performing on our opening night and the place was buzzing, everywhere was full and there was people in the streets, there's nothing he can't cover and it's nice to finally open the doors again and get local people back in."
The Bush Inn now plans to have live music on the last Friday of every month.
Keen-eyed punters may have noticed that the mural on the ceiling that said "Dusk till dawn" has been covered up, however, the landlady said it was done before she arrived.
Mrs Jones continued: "The pub has been open and closed and open again for ages but has not been open since covid, it hasn't really been open for the last eight years.
"We are locally sourced here, I'm a St John's girl through and through and so far the feedback has been amazing.
"It's early days but it's just like it used to be and we are determined to stay open.
"We have kept all the old furniture and we might reupholster them to green but we are determined to stay open.
"We have also started some new social media accounts and we already have over 200 followers."
