ARMED forces veterans and council officials gathered outside the Almonry Museum in Evesham as the town commemorated victory over Japan.

The mayor of Evesham, councillor Robert Raphael and town clerk, Jo Adams, attended the service, as did Lt. Col Mark Jackson OBE; formerly of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters, and High Sheriff of Worcestershire (2020-2021).

Wreaths were laid by Phillip Rowne-Speed on behalf of the Burma Star Association, and Nigel Fish on behalf of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association.

British Legion standard bearers from Evesham and Pershore, the Worcester Branch of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association were also in attendance.
