A MAN in his 70s was rescued after falling into the River Severn in Shrawley.

The man got into difficulty after falling into the water from mooring scaffolding at Lenchford Meadow.

A Fire and Rescue crew from Droitwich, including the water first responders, plus boat crews from Worcester and Evesham were called out at around 2pm on Saturday (August 17).

The man was rescued from the water and handed to the ambulance service.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "The man was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious.

"He received self-care advice from ambulance staff before being discharged at the scene.”
