The evening promises a colourful journey through one of England's most fascinating periods, as Thomas delves into the lives of monarchs, Knights of the Garter, rebels, witches, and more.

The scholar, dressed in the attire of the Tudor gentry, will enlighten attendees about the clothing of the time.

Thomas said: "Our enduring fascination with this period in history shows no signs of abating.

"It was a very colourful period, full of intrigue and dramatic events.

"It was the time when the UK transitioned from the medieval world to the modern age.

"The people are recognisably like us, and we can identify with their desires, jealousies, passions and conflicts."

She added: "The clothing was magnificent too, so rich and beautifully embellished, it attracts in a way the more pedestrian dress of earlier eras cannot.

"It was also the time when sumptuous portraits of the wealthy and powerful were commissioned, so we can see their personalities leaping out of these images."

Speaking on the book Dr Tracy Borman, fellow author and historian, said: “Reading it for the first time felt like I had been transported back to an age that was at once curiously other, yet also startlingly modern.

"My obsession with the Tudors is now incurable – as, I hope yours will be.”

The event begins at 7pm on Thursday, Septmber 5, and booking is available online.

The book, published by Graffeg, is available for £40.
