A GRIEVING family said a football club's memorial to honour a 'special young man' following his death has brought them indescribable comfort.

Neo Bushby's sister Tamsin said her family are exceptionally touched by Worcester United Dines Green football club's decision to honour him with its new kit.

Neo died at the age of 23 in March this year.

Both the club and goalkeeper strips have been designed with the family's approval and feature Neo's name on the back and a picture resembling heaven inserted into the letters.

The club will pay further tribute to Neo by raising money to go towards a memorial bench for Neo, which will be placed on Penhill Crescent.

Neo grew up in the Dines Green and St John's area of Worcester, with several of Worcester United's current players being his close friends.

The idea for the kit was mentioned by Neo's friend David Hadden, who had previously played for the club.

Lewis Higgs, who went to school with Neo and is now part of the football club, said: "Every time the lads put on or see the kit they will remember Neo and what we’re trying to do and achieve this season in his memory.

"This has been a humbling experience that makes you appreciate life and reminds you to always check up on friends and family because life is way too short."

Neo's sister Tamsin said there were no words that could adequately begin to explain just how many lives Neo touched and brightened with his presence.

She added: "A dedicated and loyal friend to everyone, he always made time to ensure that every one of us felt special, loved and cared for by him.

"With his cheeky smile and infectious laugh, he always knew the right words to say and just what to do, to make each of our lives that little bit better."

"As a family, we were so exceptionally touched that Neo's name will be on this season's kit, and are indescribably grateful to the team for doing such a lovely thing.

"Gestures such as this bring indescribable comfort to those of us hurting and allow Neo's legacy to continue, and for those that weren't fortunate enough to meet him, to hear just what a rare individual of awesomeness Neo was."

An inquest into Neo's death is due to take place next year.
