POLICE have released photos of a man police want to speak with in connection with an attack on a Pro-Palestine mural.

The mural in Silver Street, Lowesmoor, was defaced on Saturday, August 3.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We would like to speak to this person as he may be able to help us with our enquiries following an alleged incident of racially aggravated criminal damage in Worcester on Saturday, August 3.

"The incident occurred around 3pm on August 3 where insulting comments were spray painted on to a Pro-Palestine mural on Silver Street in the Lowesmoor area."

Anyone who thinks they may know who this man is should call PC Cath Broadfield on 07973 894669 or email: catherine.broadfield@westmercia.police.uk.

The artwork in Lowesmoor was created amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza - which has seen protests around the world.

It led to the launch of a project called Heroes of Palestine by art platform Creative Debuts, which is run by Callum Hall.

They painted the portraits of journalists Lama Jamous and Noor Harazeen on the billboard.

After the graffiti was defaced, councillor Lynn Denham said: "Worcester is a peaceful place and we have communities of all different backgrounds that live together, we don't want this kind of hate and division.

"We love and celebrate everyone who lives in Worcester, it's a wonderfully diverse city."

The mural has been criticised since it was created with Lib Dem councillors saying 'many residents' had expressed concern about it.

UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) wrote to Worcester City Council to say the mural breached planning regulations and called for it to be removed.
