THE memory of a child killed by his mother and her partner will now be "everlasting" after a bench was installed in his honour.
Nine-year-old Alfie Steele was murdered at his home in Droitwich while he was in the care of his mother, Carla Scott, and her fiancee, Dirk Howell, of Princip Street, Birmingham.
Last year, Howell was found guilty of murdering the nine-year-old while Alfie's mother was found guilty of manslaughter.

Councillor Daniel Birch said the death of Alfie sent shockwaves through the community and there was no compensation for what a truly devastating event it was.
But, it is hoped the installation of the bench will make sure Alfie is remembered as the caring young boy he was.

The bench is positioned so it overlooks Alfie's former home.
Cllr Birch said: "The memorial bench is part of the community’ plan to ensure Alfie's legacy is everlasting.
"The sad loss of Alfie Steele sent shockwaves through this community and across the county and there is no compensation for what a truly devastating event this was.
"However, as a community we will ensure the sad passing of Alfie is remembered and hope the bench that overlooks Alfie's home provides a reminder of what a caring and considerate boy Alfie was.
"The parish council have been very supportive in providing the money for the bench as well as providing funds to develop a memorial garden behind the bench which will be installed later this year”
Alaina Scott, Alfie's grandmother, had previously called Alfie the life and soul of the family.
She added: "Our family has been torn apart.
"The world doesn't feel right without him."
Howell was jailed for life for murder with a minimum term of 32 years, while Scott was jailed for 27 years, serving at least 17 for the killing.
The sentencing brings justice for Alfie who, in his tragically short life, was subjected to months of harrowing abuse at his home in Vashon Drive, Droitwich.
Rachel Brand KC, for Scott, and Alistair Williamson KC, for Howell, argued neither of the defendants had been sadistic in the killing.
But the judge rejected this saying there had been a sadistic nature to Alfie's killing.
