A Worcester-based cyber security expert has reached the final of a prestigious national industry award.
Lisa Ventura MBE is a finalist in this year's National Cyber Awards.
The awards, now in its sixth year, recognise achievements in the cyber security industry.
Cyber security ensures the protection of businesses, governments, and individuals from digital threats and cyber-attacks.
The National Cyber Awards aim to promote innovation and resilience in protecting the UK's digital landscape.
They also encourage the adoption of best practices globally.
Organised in partnership with BAE Systems, the awards ceremony will feature several categories, including Cyber Citizen of the Year, Cyber Student of the Year, and Cyber Policing Team of the Year, extending all the way through to The Prime Minister's Award for Cyber.
Nominees and winners will be honoured for their roles in securing cyberspace against evolving threats.
Mrs Ventura, founder of Cyber Security Unity, said: "To be selected as a finalist in the Cyber Citizen of the Year category in this year’s National Cyber Awards is a huge honour, and I’m proud to be chosen to represent the best of the cyber security industry in the UK along with some of the most leading and influential people who are also in the cyber security industry.
"I transitioned into cyber security when it was in its infancy in 2009 when I joined Worcester-based Titania Ltd, and over the years I’ve seen the industry grow and develop as many look to develop new ways to keep us safe from the growing cyber threat, especially with new and evolving cyber security threats that come from things like artificial intelligence.”
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer praised the awards and the finalists, saying: "The National Cyber Awards are a wonderful way to reward, celebrate and showcase the work of those committed to keeping us safe.
"Please pass on my warmest congratulations to the winners who are an inspiration to everyone across the sector who wishes to protect others."
The National Cyber Awards will be held in London on Monday, September 23, on the Monday evening before the annual International Cyber Expo.
Those interested in joining the awards for an evening of celebration can secure tickets via the website at www.thenationalcyberawards.org.
