An insurance branch team is working remotely while essential repairs are carried out on a historic building.
Howden Insurance’s Worcester branch team are temporarily working from home due to repair works at their office on the corner of Foregate Street and Sansome Street.
The building, known as the Clock and Barometer House, is a historic landmark with an outdoor clock and barometer.
Over its century-long existence, the building has housed a variety of businesses including an estate agent, a milk bar, W.F Howie – a gentleman's outfitter, and a watchmaker's shop.
The Howden Worcester branch of insurance brokers has been serving customers from it since the 1980s.
The company, which was formerly known as A-Plan, was only recently awarded Insurance Broker of the Decade.
Despite the temporary closure of the branch, the Worcester team will continue to work from home.
Branch manager, James Parker said: "As a team, we’re fortunate to work in a building that holds a significant place in Worcester's local history, but this privilege also comes with unique responsibilities.
"It’s imperative that we ensure these buildings are maintained to the highest standards of safety and preservation, as is fitting for listed properties.
"We’d like to reassure local clients that this closure is only temporary.
"We’re still here to support you over the phone in the meantime.
"We’re not just ‘on the high street’ but ‘in the high street’, and that includes taking care of our bricks and mortar, to ensure we can continue to welcome you through our doors safely for years to come."
